The variable low cut filter controls sub-bass effects produced by some passive pickups. Clear and acurrate tone. This is the cleanest, most accurate, mutli-effects I've heard.
My playing partner used one a year before I bought my own. He made me aware that many processors color the tone even when. This is the cleanest, most accurate, mutli-effects I've heard. My playing partner used one a year before I bought my own. He made me aware that many processors color the tone even when you have no effects or EQ in use. I've tested several makes and models and this is very true of very popular effects and DI's. So after testing, we both found the sound natural and not processed sounding.
In comparison, other digital processors seem to completely disintegrate the tone and then put it back together; resulting in a loss of important tonal nuances. Then when you start EQ'ing or adding effects, it sounded like a lot of the sparkle was lost and now you're trying to add effects to get it back.
The Tonedeq preserves these nuances and allows you to add effects which are simply 'just right'. The effects are easy to dial in and as stated are just the right type and adjustability to be creative and maintain a nice acoustic sound. In addition, there is no perceived latency when switching them on and off. I've noticed this on another processor I have.
I've used this on various pickups and guitars; a Taylor T5 (main use), Taylor with LR Baggs Anthem, and a Nylon with Fishman UST. It worked great with all three. My main use is with the T5 as I bounce around tonally; playing various styles and genres during gigs. The Tonedeq allows me to achieve clean electric sounds I need, but really increased the acoustic ability of the instrument. Disappointed to say the least i really wanted this piece of gear to work and sound awesome but am totally disappointed loud hum in post mode and effects not in stereo ac adapter would not fit properly into.
I really wanted this piece of gear to work and sound awesome but am totally disappointed loud hum in post mode and effects not in stereo ac adapter would not fit properly into the unit would only power up on battery mode fishman makes some awesome stuff but this one doesn't deserve to carry the name returned and looking for something that i can really use. Comments about Fishman ToneDEQ Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ: Being a Fishman Loudbox 100 user, and now moving to the ToneDEQ, it's like having having the Loudbox 100 there beside you, plugged in DI to the PA. The separate chorus and reverb are very we'll set up, and the compression is flawless. The tone controls set at 12noon are almost perfect with little twitching required for a full sound. Add in an Aphex to the signal chain, and it's a full house. I use a Godin Nylon string Multiac with the Fishman pre and pickup system, and it's amazing.
Highly recommended. Well done Fishman, I'd be your Australian Sales Rep anytime! Comments about Fishman ToneDEQ Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ: This is the cleanest, most accurate, mutli-effects I've heard. My playing partner used one a year before I bought my own.

The Tonedeq allows me to achieve clean electric sounds I need, but really increased the acoustic ability of the instrument. Comments about Fishman ToneDEQ Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ: I purchased the Tonedeq to use primarily as a preamp for performing fingerstyle acoustic guitar. The main concern was how the preamp section would 'color' the sound.
I was looking for a preamp that would be as neutral as possible. After doing an A/B test, it is very difficult to discern any difference in tone between the raw guitar signal and running through the Tonedeq with no effects and the tone controls set to null. This is what I was looking for! The effects have great tone and are very useful.
The boost works very well also. So far I am very happy with this unit. It will run down a rechargeable 9v lithium battery in about 3-4 hours. I haven't utilized the compressor yet, but judging from the usefulness of the other sections this also should be well done. The only drawback that I found was that the XLR out bypasses the main volume control. Comments about Fishman ToneDEQ Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ: I bought this product to use with a new, high-end Martin guitar that's equipped with the Aura system, and found it to be, frankly, overkill.
But, instead of returning it, I tried it with my piezo-equipped Fender Robert Schmidt electric mandolin. What this preamp did for my pickup is nothing short of amazing. I've gotten by with cheap, battery-powered preamps my entire career, and it was a big leap to drop this much money on one, but I am SO happy I did. Effects; awesome, EQ; very helpful, I/O; complete, Sound Quality; stellar. You know, it's not often you use tremolo with an acoustic instrument, but, with mandolin, it's a great touch. And the inclusion of tremolo on this product had me scratching my head, BUT, when I ran the mando through it, it was a beautiful thing.
Compression, nice reverbs, and great I/O capabilities/impedance matching, plus, yeah, it's the classiest-looking pedal in the world. I highly recommend this unit if you have a weak pickup, 'cause this'll get you where you wanna go. One con: At this price, the AC adaptor should be included. Make sure you order one! Comments about Fishman ToneDEQ Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ: I played my first gig last weekend before last with the ToneDEQ. I got compliments on how it sounded from my partner. The compression helps overall but really makes boosted lead lines pop through the mix.
A bit of reverb and a tiny amount of chorus fatten the tone nicely. I am using a Mi-Si Trio (Baggs Element) piezo UST and I think it really works well in this application. I've got a tuner and volume control in the guitar so I don't consider a mute or tuner an important feature (and if I did I've yet to find a multipurpose pedal that matches a Polytune pedal or my D'Addario soundhole tuner).
Check out the attached pictures as I marked my settings with Mark-It dots. It is also fairly light weight unlike the Fishman Aura pedals.
The top panel is metal but the back and sides are plastic. It seems plenty tough but also light enough to safely go in a guitar gig bag pocket. The battery life or the battery light don't work to spec. When the battery light came on (1 hour to go) I removed the battery and later tested it with ZTS pulse load digital battery tester which reported 40% battery life remaining. If 100% of an alkaline battery is 12 hours, then 40% should still be nearly 5 hours. I suppose best to use an external power supply. It takes the standard negative tip 9v supply.
I'm not much of a fan of notch filters (for me either ineffective or not transparent) or sweepable mid tone control. That might matter to others. The bass cut and phase inversion are the important feedback controls in my experience.
I think a ToneDEQ and a powered PA speaker make a much better acoustic guitar amp than any dedicated acoustic amp I've tried. Comments about Fishman ToneDEQ Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ: I use this in my home studio, I really appreciate the full Fishman tones and sound quality. The fact that it is battery powered is a benefit sometimes but mostly I use the power adapter. The best thing about this is the small footprint, Space is always a challenge when you build a home studio and this is so small, so sound full and so easy to use it has no faults in my book. I run mine directly into the mixer and from there into the rest of the system for power.
Comments about Fishman ToneDEQ Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ: I tried several other FX and EQ pedals and was disappointed with the sound quality and/or ease of use. I play strictly acoustic and the Fishman ToneDEQ provided the sound quality I was looking for. It was easy to set up and is easy to use. Nice selection of reverb, delay, chorus, flanger and delay. Easy to dial in the right levels, rates, etc. Same for EQ - 3 sweepable knobs for low, mid and high. My only complaint is that Fishman doesn't include a 9v AC adapter with your purchase.
You can also power the unit with a 9v battery but you'll go through batteries in 5-7 hrs. You're better off buying the adapter.
Overall, I'm very happy with the ToneDEQ!

Welcome Thank you for making Fishman a part of your acoustic experience. We are proud to offer the fi nest acoustic amplifi cation products available; high-quality professional-grade tools which empower you to sound your very best. Before using your SA220, carefully read the following sections. A guide is molded into the underside of the SA220 and acts as an aid in positioning the SA220 onto the tripod. Once positioned, lower the SA220 onto the tripod until it rests firmly on the tube. Plug the provided AC line cord into the back of the amplifier.
Locate the Power switch and switch it off, then connect the power cord. Plug the SA220 into an electrical outlet with the appropriate AC voltage. Push in the Mute switch and turn on the Power switch. Front Panel Controls The following pages describe the functions of each control or jack on the SA220 front and rear panels. Refer to these numbered diagrams for each numbered control on the following pages.
Mute – The Mute switch shuts off the signals from Channels 1 and 2 to the speakers and all the XLR outputs. Front Panel Controls (cont.) 11. 10dB Pad – If you have a high output pickup and the Clip LED comes on at low Gain settings, push this switch in for a more usable range. XLR Mic Input – You may also connect an outboard preamp with balanced XLR out to this input. Tweeter Level – Set the front panel controls fl at and adjust the tweeter level to where it sounds best to you.

AC Power The SA220 has a universal power supply and can accept voltages from around the world. For amplifiers purchased in the USA, Canada and Mexico, plug in the supplied detachable AC power cable. The 1/4 inch stereo (TRS) Aux Input mixes the signals to mono when amplifi ed. Monitor In & Out – The monitor feature on the SA220 allows two performers, each with a SA220, to send their own mix to each other. The Monitor level on the front panel then blends in the other players mix.
About Acoustic Feedback There are two features provided to help control acoustic feedback, the Phase switch and the Anti-Feedback notch control. Feedback usually occurs in the lowest octaves of your instrument. The natural resonances which produce an instrument’s tone also react with amplifi ed sound. The louder an instrument is amplifi. Setting Phase and Anti-Feedback The Phase and Anti-feedback controls can be used to restrict the two most dominant feedback notes, allowing greater volume before feedback than otherwise possible. In most cases, the Phase switch is used to control the lower dominant note while the Anti-Feedback notch is used to control the higher.
Monitor Feature The monitor feature on the SA220 allows two performers, each with a SA220, to “cross-feed” their EQ’d and mixed outputs to each other. This allows each player to turn up the other player’s mix as heard through through their own SA220.

I use a Behringer 4 channel mixer, has master volume and individual volumes, I have talked to a great guy, Frank on the phone, My cell sux and sometimes it just mutes! Frank says I may be clipping but the light is on the front of the spkr cab, so I wouldn't see it if it was, It has totally shut down a couple of times and my volumes are not high.
Should I set the master gain on say,5 and the behringer lower say master at 4 and the indiv channels lower or at 4? Dont understand clipping. My cell is 334-306-1912.
